For thriving communities and living nature
Supporting practical skills, self-reliance and community-led action for people, livelihoods and nature.
About Ayara
We support practical skills, self-reliance and community-led action for people, livelihoods and nature.
Our work focuses on projects that strengthen local knowledge, hands-on learning, women’s and youth opportunities, shared community infrastructure and care for the natural environment. We work with local partners to turn practical ideas into fundable projects that communities can use, own and grow.
The name Ayara is inspired by Ayé, which refers to the physical world, and Ara, meaning mystery or wonder, in Yoruba. For us, Ayara stands for a world that is understood, cared for and shaped together.
At the heart of Ayara is the relationship between people and nature. Healthy livelihoods depend on land, water, soil, forests, materials, skills and local ecosystems. We support projects that bring these dimensions together: creating income and opportunity while protecting, restoring and responsibly using the natural environment.
Ayara’s projects include vocational training, community workshops, access to tools, sustainable building, circular economy, agro-processing, women-led livelihood initiatives and other practical projects rooted in local needs.
We believe strong communities and living nature belong together.

Focus
Practical Skills
Hands-on training, vocational learning and access to tools help people build practical abilities and technical know-how they can directly use in work and everyday life.
Livelihoods
Local production, small enterprise and community-led initiatives strengthen income opportunities, especially for women, young people and local producers.
People & Nature
Strong communities depend on healthy environments. We support projects that care for land, water, soil, materials and ecosystems while improving daily lives.
Knowledge
Knowledge becomes powerful when it can be used, shared and passed on. We back practical learning, local partnerships and community-led action.
